Training Dogs to Urinate Outside
We must always have in mind that the dogs too need empty their
stomach and urinate. It’s our responsibility to train them proper
training as when and where to do that. When the puppies come to us it
will be with simple things like eating, sleeping, exploration and
elimination and doing this as and when they require doing them. It is
for us train them when and where to do what. They will be as happy t9
things as they are told or taught to do. The four things you must know
to give your puppy proper elimination techniques are Confinement,
Training, Timing and praise.
Confinement
When you see that your dog still does not understand things they need
to be confined and the best and most effective place to confine them are
Crates. When you take to the crate it should be free of collars, leashes
etc. and the dog should be free of all obstacles once inside. You should
not leave anything inside the crates like cloths or paper as they will
use them for activities by tearing and shredding them to pieces and they
will not eliminate when they are active. It could be expensive for you
to buy crates as and when the dog grows and hence you can buy a large
crate and partition them to the exact needs of the dog. Do not use the
Crates as punishment and use it positively only to give them food
inside. The negative use will make them not to accept the Crating at
all.
Training
When a new dog to be trained use chain or leash to tie them and take
them to place where you want them to eliminate. Choose a place where you
can take them daily. Choose a particular word for urination and
defecation. And tell them repeatedly the same word when you take them to
designated place. It can be a word like Poo for urinating and quit for
defecation. This way they will understand a part of Word training as
well. The Dog will understand what you want him to do and when you want
it to happen. Word training is also is important as it has to understand
your command. Teach them simple Words like sit, run, chase, catch etc.
Praise the dog
The most important thing to understand the dogs need to eliminate and
how often they need to do that. Keep that in mind and take them outside
with the leash with the Phrase we are going out several times so that
the dos understand the phrase. Choose time like morning when they wake
up, immediately after breakfast, lunch etc. Take them to the designated
place and use the same word as said earlier. When you catch them doing
elimination accidentally inside the house do not for get to show them
that you are not happy with a Firm NO and immediately take them to
designated place. Doing this, will make them understand that it is the
right place to eliminate. Always do not forget to show your praise when
they do the elimination at the designated place and time and keep
praising him till he complete. You must understand that the dogs always
urinates first and do the defecation immediately and once you know that
you can wait till they complete. Once inside give them a piece of
something he likes the most to show your praise or just pat on the
forehead which means to appreciate the dog.
